Brick stable behind the president’s house at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. It was built in 1869 for Robert E. Lee’s famous war horse, Traveller, while Lee was president of the then Washington College. Traditionally, the stable doors are left open so the spirit of Traveller can freely roam the school grounds.
